A little about me…
Hi! I’m Nuala (they/them). I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m a queer, relational therapist with a deep love for helping people develop thriving lives and relationships. I’m especially drawn to working with queer, trans, and/or neurodivergent individuals and partners who are navigating complex trauma, chronic illness, or relational challenges.
Much of my work is shaped by this question: how can we create lives and relationships that reflect our values, even within systems that weren’t built for us?
Connection is at the center of my practice—whether that’s your connection with yourself, your body, or the people in your life. As we explore these connections, I’ll invite you to listen to your body; move at a pace that feels safe and sustainable for you; and create space for curiosity, grief, and joy along the way.
The connection between therapist and client is incredibly important, too. My style is warm, collaborative, and gently direct; I view myself as a compassionate co-conspirator in your growth process. In this process, I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), politicized somatics, contemporary psychoanalysis, and attachment theory to support you.
I see clients in-person in a cozy cottage in Pasadena, California, and virtually throughout the state—with my dog and co-counselor, Bacon, often on my lap.
Meet my co-counselor, Bacon, who is on my lap for all virtual sessions. Although he takes his job seriously, he is also a highly neurotic little man and not yet ready to join me for in-person sessions… unless you want a chihuahua to give you the side-eye while you —and possibly your partner(s)— are opening up.
